Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was born on February 21, 1946, in Hammersmith, London, England. He was the second of four children born to Bernard and Margaret Rickman. His father was a factory worker, and his mother was a homemaker. Rickman grew up in a working-class household, and attended the Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith.

Rickman went on to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where he honed his skills as an actor. After graduating, he spent several years working in theatre before transitioning to film and television.

Rickman’s breakthrough role came in 1988, when he was cast as the villainous Hans Gruber in the action-thriller “Die Hard.” His performance in the film was widely praised, and he went on to become one of the most sought-after character actors in Hollywood.

Over the course of his career, Rickman appeared in a wide variety of films and television shows, spanning multiple genres and styles. Some of his most notable roles include:
